The J.P. Morgan Reserve Card application is invite-only. To be considered, you’ll need to be a client of J.P. Morgan’s private bank with at least $10 million in assets under management.
The J.P. Morgan Reserve Card (formerly the Chase Palladium) is a solid credit card with a fancy exterior made of brass and palladium that’s guaranteed to leave an impression. If your goal is to brandish a status symbol, then the card may be worth it.
This is an invite-only card for those with a minimum of $10 million in assets managed by J.P. Morgan’s private bank. It ranks up there with the Centurion® Card from American Express in terms of exclusivity. It does offer valuable benefits that justify its annual fee of $550 ($75 for each additional user). However, aside from prestige, its benefits aren’t unique.
You’ll find most of the same features on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® — a card that’s open to a wider pool of applicants, ones who have excellent credit and are willing to pay a $550 annual fee.

You’ll earn 3x points on travel worldwide immediately after earning your $300 annual travel credit. Plus, 3X points on travel worldwide immediately after earning your $300 annual travel credit. Plus, 3X points per $1 spent at restaurants and 1 point per $1 on other purchases. This matches the rewards rate on the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.
Travel and other benefits
The J.P. Morgan Reserve Card comes with a valuable set of travel credits and benefits, including lounge access. Notably, though, it does include one unpublished benefit that sets it apart from the Chase Sapphire Reserve®: a complimentary United Club membership for primary cardholder and two guests. However, the rest of these benefits can also be found on the Chase Sapphire Reserve®:
Purchase protections and insurance
Like the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card includes an excellent set of travel protections, including primary car rental insurance and trip cancellation/interruption insurance:
Transferable points
The points you earn with your J.P. Morgan Reserve Card are part of the Chase Ultimate Rewards® program. You can transfer points to more than a dozen airline and hotel brands and through Chase Ultimate Rewards® your points are worth 50% more. This means that 20,000 points can be redeemed for $300 worth of travel rather than $200.

$300 travel credit
The $300 annual travel credit is the same as the one given to Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders. The benefit is automatically applied to your first $300 in travel purchases each year. Note that you don’t earn points on purchases that qualify for the credit.
The J.P. Morgan Reserve Card is a great credit card option for potential cardholders that qualify. But as we noted above, it is a novelty card. Below you’ll see how the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card matches up against its competitors.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® card offers nearly the same benefits as the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card with a lower annual fee, and anyone can apply for it.
The similarities don’t end with the name and fees. You’ll Earn 5x total points on flights and 10x total points on hotels and car rentals when you purchase travel through Chase Travel℠ immediately after the first $300 is spent on travel purchases annually. Earn 3x points on other travel and dining & 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.. That’s the same rewards rate as the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card. Plus, you get the same $300 annual travel credit.
Other benefits include complimentary Priority Pass™ Select membership (which gives you access to more than 1,300 Priority Pass lounges), a fee credit for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck® or NEXUS and no foreign transaction fees when traveling internationally.
While far more expensive, but almost as rare, the Centurion® Card from American Express offers a plethora of luxury benefits that make it stand out. Benefits include complimentary elite status with IHG, Hilton and Marriott, Complementary Platinum Medallion status with Delta, Centurion lounge access, Priority Pass lounge access (enrollment required) through the Global Lounge Collection and more.
Current American Express cardholders can submit a form expressing interest in the Centurion® Card from American Express. However, additional barriers to card membership include the hefty initiation fee of $10,000 and annual fee of $5,000.
The Mastercard® Black Card™ offers impressive benefits, including travel credits, lounge membership and purchase protections — but with a lower annual fee. The PVD-coated metal card is a sure conversation starter and has an annual fee of $495 ($195 for each Authorized User added to the account).
Benefits similar to the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card include a Global Entry and TSA PreCheck application fee credit and Priority Pass™ Select membership, as well as many travel and purchase protections. The Mastercard® Black Card™ lets you earn 2% value for airfare redemptions with no blackout dates or seat restrictions. 1.5% value for cash back redemptions. Earn one point for every one dollar spent.
For those seeking a luxury travel credit card, this one is a solid choice since it’s more attainable than the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card.
If you’re a Chase private client card and meet the qualifications, the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card will give you bragging rights along with premium benefits.
However, other cards offer similar benefits and comparable annual fees all without the barrier to entry. You should consider the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or the Mastercard® Black Card™ if you’re in the market for a less exclusive high-end card with luxury perks.
